Moon River eternally stays with Ubon

The discovery of ancient caves paintings in the province witnesses that the location of Ubon Ratchathani was ever a dwelling of pre-historic humans before. Later in the historic age, according to religious, cultural, traditional and art evidences and ways of living of people residing along both banks of the Moon River, the community located in the present Ubon was influenced by the civilization of neighboring countries. As a second largest province of the country, Ubon situated about 629 kms. away from Bangkok covers an area of approximately 16,110.75 sq.kms. Comprising 20 districts, the province could be conveniently accessible by car, train and air. While in early Rattanakosin period a journey from Bangkok to Ubon took about 50 days. To facilitate those who wished to study Buddhism, King Rama IV of Bangkok founded Wat Supattanaram Worvihar in Ubon. At dusk, from the Seri Pracha Thippatai or Rattanakosin Bridge, which links Amphur Warin Chamrab with Ubon, town the wonderful sunset could be appreciated. As far as time perpetually passes, the quiet and peaceful Moon River will eternally stay with Ubon Ratchathani.
