Moon River eternally stays with Ubon
The discovery of ancient caves paintings in the province witnesses
that the location of Ubon Ratchathani was ever a dwelling
of pre-historic humans before. Later in the historic age,
according to religious, cultural, traditional and art evidences
and ways of living of people residing along both banks of
the Moon River, the community located in the present Ubon
was influenced by the civilization of neighboring countries.
As a second largest province of the country, Ubon situated
about 629 kms. away from Bangkok covers an area of approximately
16,110.75 sq.kms. Comprising 20 districts, the province could
be conveniently accessible by car, train and air. While in
early Rattanakosin period a journey from Bangkok to Ubon took
about 50 days. To facilitate those who wished to study Buddhism,
King Rama IV of Bangkok founded Wat Supattanaram Worvihar
in Ubon. At dusk, from the Seri Pracha Thippatai or Rattanakosin
Bridge, which links Amphur Warin Chamrab with Ubon, town the
wonderful sunset could be appreciated. As far as time perpetually
